Sylvia Hoeks

Sylvia Hoeks, born on 1 June 1983, is a prominent Dutch actress and former model. She is internationally renowned for her standout roles in popular films Blade Runner 2049 (2017) and The Girl in the Spider's Web (2018). Born in Maarheeze, North Brabant, Netherlands, Hoeks' language skills extend to German, French and English, which has diversified her acting portfolio to productions in different languages. Originally scouted by Elite Model Management at the tender age of 14, she balanced modelling with education, travelling around Europe for modelling assignments while attending high school.

After completing studies at the Maastricht Academy of Dramatic Arts, Sylvia Hoeks quickly garnered fame and recognition in Dutch television and film. She started her acting journey with a major role in the Dutch TV film Staatsgevaarlijk and later appeared in widely watched series such as Gooische Vrouwen and Vuurzee. Her talent and performance brought her further acclaim when she won the Golden Calf (Dutch equivalent of an Academy Award) for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the film Duska (2007). Her international debut in English cinema was marked by the film The Best Offer in 2013. Hoeks continued to prove her prowess by portraying the character of replicant Luv in the 2017 science fiction film Blade Runner 2049, a role which demanded intense physical training. Most recently, she has starred in the Apple TV+ drama series See, and is set to play principle roles in the upcoming thriller Berlin Nobody and a biographical film about Anna Nicole Smith.
