Velibor Topic

Velibor Topić (born 24 July 1970 in Mostar, then part of the Socialist Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, SFR Yugoslavia) is a Bosnian‑British actor whose career spans more than three decades of film and television work. Raised in a culturally mixed family of Serbian, Bosniak and Croatian descent, Topić experienced the turmoil of the Bosnian War firsthand, living in Sarajevo where he joined an underground theatre group that kept artistic expression alive amid siege. A striking image of him captured by Annie Leibovitz in the series "Sarajevo – The Kiss" became an emblem of resilience, and in 1996 he relocated to London to pursue broader opportunities in the performing arts. Since his debut in 1984, Topić has accumulated over 69 screen credits, appearing in high‑profile productions such as "Snatch" (2000), Ridley Scott’s "Kingdom of Heaven" (2005) and "Robin Hood" (2010), as well as Matthew Vaughn’s "Kingsman: The Secret Service" (2014) and "The Counselor" (2013). He has collaborated three times with Ridley Scott and worked under directors including Guy Ritchie, Tom Hooper, Anthony Minghella and William Monahan, demonstrating a versatile range that moves from gritty crime dramas to epic historical epics. On British television he is recognised for roles in "Sharpe’s Peril" (2002), "The Bill" (2002), "Prime Suspect" series 6 (2003) and the political drama "Ambassadors" (2013).
