Wrenn Schmidt

Melinda Wrenn Schmidt (born February 18, 1983 in Lexington, South Carolina) is an American actress whose career spans stage, television and film. She first gained professional attention after graduating summa cum laude with a B.F.A. in theatre studies and history from Southern Methodist University in 2005, then moving to New York City where she balanced three jobs while auditioning and interning with an off‑Broadway company. Schmidt’s early theatre work included a role in George F. Walker’s Heaven at Dallas’ Kitchen Dog Theater (2003) and an understudy position on a national tour of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, which led to the acquisition of her first talent agent and television credits on Law & Order and 3 lbs in 2006. Her breakthrough on the small screen arrived with the HBO period drama Boardwalk Empire (2012‑2013), where she portrayed Julia Sagorsky, a character that showcased her ability to convey both vulnerability and strength.
