Harmony Korine

Harmony Korine (born January 4, 1973) is an American filmmaker, actor, photographer, artist, and author, known for his work that often explores the erratic, loose, transgressive aesthetic and taboo themes. His career started with the screenplay for the Larry Clark film Kids (1995) which was followed by his directorial debut, Gummo (1997). His films explore unconventional narratives, themes of dysfunctional families and include Mister Lonely (2007), Spring Breakers (2012), The Beach Bum (2019), and Aggro Dr1ft (2023). He founded EDGLRD, a creative and technology company, in 2023. Korine was born in a Jewish family in Bolinas, California. His father was an Iranian Jewish immigrant, a tap dancer and made documentaries in the '70s which highly influenced Korine's passion for film. Korine spent his early childhood in the San Francisco Bay Area, then relocated to Nashville, Tennessee and later moved to New York City to live with his grandmother. In New York, he used to spend summers skateboarding, exploring cinema and idea of filmmaking.
