**Karan Yash Johar**, often informally referred to as **KJo**, is an Indian filmmaker, producer, television personality who primarily works in Hindi cinema. Born as Rahul Kumar Johar on May 25, 1972, Johar has marked a significant imprint in India's cinematic history. He has introduced and fostered the career of many successful actors and filmmakers through his company Dharma Productions. Honoured with the prestigious Padma Shri by the Government of India in 2020, Johar is also the recipient of numerous accolades, including two National Film Awards and seven Filmfare Awards. Making his directorial debut with 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' in 1998, Johar stirred the film industry, bagging several awards for the blockbuster. His brilliant steering of the romantic drama led him to direct other successful films like 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham' and 'Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna'. Born to a Punjabi father, Yash Johar, and Sindhi mother, Hiroo Johar, Karan was strongly influenced by Indian cinema from a young age. His notable works have established him as one of the leading filmmakers in Hindi cinema. However, Johar's influence in the entertainment industry isn't limited to films alone. He also marked his identity as a television talk show host, releasing 'Koffee with Karan' in 2004, which went on to gain widespread popularity. He has also judged competition reality shows such as 'Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa' and 'India's Got Talent'. Known for his numerology beliefs, Johar often named his films beginning with the letter 'K', which he continued till the 2006 comedy-drama 'Lage Raho Munna Bhai'. As of 2017, Johar became a parent to twins through surrogacy.
