Megan Griffiths

**Megan Griffiths** (born *April 22, 1975*) is an American film and television director whose career has been rooted in the Pacific Northwest while also reaching national and international audiences. Born in Athens, Ohio, she spent her teenage years in Moscow, Idaho, where she attended Moscow High School before earning a B.A. in visual communications from the University of Idaho in 1997. She later honed her cinematic craft with an MFA in Film Production from Ohio University in 2000, laying a scholarly foundation for a versatile directing style that blends gritty realism with empathetic storytelling. Griffiths burst onto the feature‑film scene with *First Aid for Choking* in 2003, and quickly became a key figure in Seattle’s independent film community, working as a producer and first assistant director on titles such as *Zoo*, *The Immaculate Conception of Little Dizzle*, and *Your Sister's Sister*.

Since her early breakthrough, Griffiths has demonstrated a remarkable range, directing critically acclaimed features like *The Off Hours* (Sundance 2011, Independent Spirit nomination), the socially resonant *Eden* (2012), and the star‑studded *Lucky Them* (2013) starring Toni Collette and a cameo by Johnny Depp. Her television credits span premium and network series, including two episodes of HBO’s *Room 104*, a pivotal episode of *The Society* on Netflix, and recurring work on *Animal Kingdom*, *Looking for Alaska*, and *The Summer I Turned Pretty*.
