Oliver Parker, better known as Ol Parker, is an accomplished English director, producer, and screenwriter. Born on 2nd June 1969 in London, England, Parker spent his early years in the quaint village of Radwinter, near the bustling market town of Saffron Walden in Essex. His formal education took place at Dame Bradbury's School, an independent school in Saffron Walden in Essex, followed by Clare College, Cambridge, where he read English. Parker initiated his professional career in the film industry in 1995 and since then, has been significantly active. His directorial skills were showcased in the movies like 'Imagine Me & You' (2005) and 'Now Is Good' (2012). Not just direction, he also showed his adeptness in the realm of writing by penning down the screenplay for films like 'Imagine Me & You', 'The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel' (2011) and 'The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel' (2015). However, his most prominent work includes writing and directing the 2018 musical film 'Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again' and the 2022 romantic comedy 'Ticket to Paradise', starring notable actors George Clooney and Julia Roberts. On the personal front, Parker married actress Thandiwe Newton in 1998 and has three children with her. This includes daughters Ripley and Nico and son Booker Jombe. Their marriage ended in separation in 2022.
