Rebecca Zlotowski, born Rebecca Myriam Clara Zlotowski on 21 April 1980, is a renowned French film director and screenwriter of Polish-Moroccan descent. Raised in the heart of Paris, France, Rebecca's academic pursuits led her to the doorstep of the prestigious École Normale Supérieure. Here, she received her teaching qualification in French modern literature by 2003. Later, Zlotowski graduated in 2007 from La Fémis in the scriptwriting section solidifying her love for cinema and storytelling. Her father, Michel Zlotowski is an English-French interpreter, while her mother of Moroccan heritage (born in Oujda) is a Spanish teacher. Further her career took flight with her first feature film, 'Belle Épine', which served as her graduation project at La Fémis. Rebecca's mentor Lodge Kerrigan greatly influenced her project which went on to win the Louis Delluc Prize for Best First Film and the French critics' union prize for Best First Film in January 2011. In 2013, Zlotowski directed 'Grand Central' at the Cannes Film Festival. This was followed by 'Planetarium', and her fourth film 'An Easy Girl' won the SACD Award for Best French-language Film. She also co-created and directed the series 'Les Sauvages', which won the best prize from the French critics union. Her fifth film, 'Other People's Children', was presented at the 79th Venice International Film Festival.
