Timon C. West, better known as Ti West, is an accomplished American film director, producer, screenwriter, editor, cinematographer, and actor. He was born in Wilmington, Delaware, and attended Tatnall School and later the School of Visual Arts. Drawn to films after watching Peter Jackson's Bad Taste and Sam Raimi's Evil Dead, he carved a unique, successful career. He's particularly known for his work in the horror genre, directing films like The Roost (2005), Trigger Man (2007), The House of the Devil (2009), and The Innkeepers (2011). West also directed the Western In a Valley of Violence (2016) and the highly-acclaimed X film series. In addition to directing, West has shown his range by acting in various films, typically those he has directed or those helmed by Joe Swanberg.

West began his directorial career with the 2001 short The Wicked, followed by a range of feature films. One of his well-known series is Dead & Lonely for IFC Films in 2009. His work also extends to TV series, directing episodes of MTV's Scream and WeTV's South of Hell. In 2020, news broke that A24 would produce a West-directed horror film titled X, which enjoyed a successful release in 2022. His work earned critical acclaim, leading to a prequel called Pearl, filmed back-to-back with X during New Zealand's COVID-19 lockdown. On top of film and television, West directed Justin Timberlake’s music video No Angels, solidifying his multi-faceted talents in the entertainment industry.
