American actor **Andrew Scott Rannells** was born on August 23, 1978, in Omaha, Nebraska. Rannells is the fourth of five siblings and attended Our Lady of Lourdes grade school and Creighton Preparatory School, all-boys Roman Catholic school, both in Omaha. He took part in community theater productions in his hometown before moving to New York City in 1997 to study theater at Marymount Manhattan College. Rannells made his career breakthrough in the mid-1990s through voice acting for animation production firm DIC Entertainment. He had also worked with the NYC-based production company 4Kids Entertainment from 2001 to 2004. Over time, his body of work diversified into Broadway and screen acting and includes standout performances such as his originating role as Elder Kevin Price in *The Book of Mormon* and as Elijah on HBO's *Girls*. Rannells is also a prolific stage actor, earning Tony nominations for his performances in the Broadway musicals *The Book of Mormon* and *Falsettos*. He has also starred in popular Broadway productions such as *Hairspray* and *Jersey Boys*. He has garnered voice-acting credits including roles on Netflix's *Big Mouth* and Amazon Prime's *Invincible*. Audiences also recognize him from his performance in the Showtime series *Black Monday*. Rannells, an openly gay man, faced an offensive depiction of a gay man while acting in *Pokémon Live!* early in his career. He has since established a successful acting career while staying true to his sexual orientation. His partner since 2019 is actor Tuc Watkins. He published his first memoir, *Too Much Is Not Enough*, in 2019, reflecting on his early life from Omaha to Broadway.
