In the 1970s and 80s, he built his career as an action film star, with significant roles in movies like Conan the Barbarian, The Terminator, and True Lies. Widely regarded as one of the greatest bodybuilders of all time, he won the Mr. Universe title at 20, and the Mr. Olympia title seven times. In 2003, he transitioned into politics, serving as the 38th governor of California from 2003 to 2011. Post governorship, he returned to the film industry with continued roles in popular franchises such as Terminator and The Expendables. He also appeared briefly in TV as the host of The New Celebrity Apprentice in 2016-17. Schwarzenegger's personal life has often been as cinematic as his films, his marriage and eventual divorce to Maria Shriver amidst scandal being among the most notorious.
