Bill Smitrovich, also known as William Stanley Zmitrowicz Jr., (/ˈsmɪtrəvɪtʃ/ SMIT-rə-vitch) is an eminent American actor with an impressive career that stretches from 1982 up to the present. Born on May 16, 1947, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, Bill is of Polish descent. A talented individual, he is a graduate of the University of Bridgeport (1972) and holds a Master of Fine Arts degree from Smith College (1976).

Throughout his career, Smitrovich carved his path in both television series and films, earning his first significant TV series role in the 1980s series Crime Story as Det. Sgt. Danny Krychek. Among other performances, he starred in the popular drama series Life Goes On (1989–93), and earned a leading guest star role in Miami Vice. He was cast as Seattle police lieutenant Bob Bletcher in Millennium, developed by Chris Carter, the creator of The X-Files. He also made significant appearances on A Nero Wolfe Mystery, The Practice, and Without a Trace. A versatile actor, he has played various characters in military roles, notably in Independence Day (1996), Air Force One (1997), and Eagle Eye (2008), among others. His film credits entail roles in The Trigger Effect (1996), Gridiron Gang (2006), and the Marvel Comics superhero movie Iron Man (2008).
