Bruce Cabot, whose real name was Étienne de Pelissier Bujac Jr., was recognized as a prominent American film actor, notable for his role as Jack Driscoll in King Kong (1933) along with contributions to significant films such as The Last of the Mohicans (1936), Fritz Lang's Fury (1936), and Dodge City (1939). Apart from these performances, he was well-acclaimed for his frequent appearances in John Wayne films, starting with Angel and the Badman (1947) and wrapping with Big Jake (1971). Cabot's journey into acting was fuelled by a meeting with David O. Selznick at a Hollywood party. His audition, which he personally thought was 'rather awful', nonetheless earned him a role in The Roadhouse Murder (1932) marking the beginning of his prolific career.

Cabot was born in a proficient local lawyer's home located in Carlsbad, New Mexico. After his mother's death, the young boy underwent various jobs, working as a sailor, oil worker, surveyor, prizefighter, and real estate manager among others. After kicking off his acting career, Cabot featured in around 100 films. His distinctive performances as villains and heroes in different productions catapulted his fame in the Hollywood industry. He showcased a consistent pull on the box office before joining the World War II services. After the war, he returned to Hollywood and continued his career, ending up as a stalwart in John Wayne's circle. This relationship became fruitful as Wayne involved him in many of his upcoming projects.
