Born on August 1, 1933, in Brooklyn, New York, DeLuise rose to stardom in the 1970s as a frequent guest on various television variety shows. A recognisable figure in the films of Mel Brooks and Gene Wilder, DeLuise also formed a series of collaborations and a double act with Burt Reynolds. With his captivating voice, he brought life to characters in several major animated productions in the 1980s, particularly those animated by Don Bluth. DeLuise's robust career saw him stage his debut at 18, participate in off-Broadway musical revues and plays, and shine in comedic parts on film and television. Also an author of several cookbooks and children's books, he passed away on May 4, 2009, in Santa Monica, California, leaving an indelible mark in the entertainment industry.
