Born Charles Everett McGill III on October 21, 1945, in Miami Beach, Florida, **Everett McGill** is an American retired actor popularly known for his caveman portrayal in _Quest for Fire (1981)_. Additionally, he took on remarkable roles in the films _Dune (1984)_, _Silver Bullet (1985)_, _Heartbreak Ridge (1986)_, _Iguana (1988)_, _Licence to Kill (1989)_, _The People Under the Stairs (1991)_, and _Under Siege 2: Dark Territory (1995)_. Notably, he also played "Big" Ed Hurley in the television series _Twin Peaks (1990–1991)_. McGill wrapped up his acting career in 1999 but made a return for the _Twin Peaks_ revival. In his early life, McGill graduated from Rosedale High School in Kansas City, Kansas, in 1963. His filmography, though relatively short, features McGill in roles typically portraying sadistic military types or terrorists. His acting career gained momentum after his performances in _Brubaker_ alongside Robert Redford and as Chad Richards on the soap opera _The Guiding Light_ in 1975 and 1976. Throughout his career, McGill has been cast in several films by director David Lynch, marking a notable collaboration. Notably, McGill played the Fremen leader Stilgar in Lynch's 1984 adaptation of _Dune_. The actor later came out of retirement in 2017 specifically to reprise the role of Big Ed Hurley in a revival of _Twin Peaks_.
