Gregor Justin 'Gore' Verbinski, born March 16, 1964, is known as an extraordinary multi-skilled individual in the film industry - working as a director, screenwriter, producer and musician. Born in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, he is the fourth of five children of Laurette Ann (née McGovern) and Victor Vincent Verbinski, a nuclear physicist. Verbinski developed a love for music in his early years and played in several punk rock bands which served as his main creative outlet. His early career included being active in several L.A. rock bands before moving on to music videos and commercials for big name brands like Nike, Coca-Cola, and Budweiser. During these years his incredible efforts saw him win numerous awards.

His transition from music videos to feature films catapulted his fame globally. In 1997, he made his directorial debut with Mouse Hunt, which saw major success. Following that he worked on several projects, the most impactful being the first three films of the Pirates of the Caribbean series, which made billions globally. Despite few minor failures, he has continued to impress audiences, even venturing into the western genre receiving high praise for his work on Rango, for which he won the Academy Award and BAFTA Award for Best Animated Film. Throughout his career Verbinski has shown that he's not afraid to push the boundaries, use creative solutions, and continue learning in his art.
