Greta Scacchi, born on 18 February 1960, is a renowned actress, known for a plethora of film roles including 'White Mischief' (1987), 'Presumed Innocent' (1990), 'The Player' (1992), 'Emma' (1996), and 'Looking for Alibrandi' (2000). She garnered her first lead role in the romantic drama film 'Heat and Dust' (1983), earning a BAFTA Award nomination. Her portrayal of Alexandra of Hesse in the biographical television film 'Rasputin: Dark Servant of Destiny' (1996) earned her a Primetime Emmy Award and a Golden Globe Award nomination. She furthered her reputation with another Primetime Emmy Award nomination for her performance in the Western television film 'Broken Trail' (2006).

She was born in Milan, Italy, to Luca Scacchi, an Italian art dealer and painter, and Pamela Risbey, an English dancer and antiques dealer. After her parents' divorce, Scacchi moved to Perth, Western Australia with her mother, where she nurtured her burgeoning acting career. She attended the University of Western Australia's University Dramatic Society and eventually trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School in England. Scacchi's fluency in English, French, German, and Italian has made her a popular choice for European casting directors. Apart from films, she has performed in a wide range of parts in theatre including 'In Times Like These', 'Cider with Rosie', 'A Doll's House', 'Miss Julie', 'Old Times', and 'Private Lives'.
