Hayley Squires

Born as Hayley McGinty on 16th April 1988, **Hayley Squires** is a reputable English actress and playwright. She began gaining recognition for her remarkable performance in the Ken Loach film _I, Daniel Blake_. The renown of her talent did not stop with _I, Daniel Blake_. Squires also showcased her prowess in Call the Midwife (2012), Southcliffe (2013), Complicit (2013), Blood Cells (2014), A Royal Night Out (2015) and Murder (2016). Away from the film industry, she made a great impact on the theater stage, where her first play, _Vera Vera Vera_, was produced by the Royal Court Theatre in 2012. The movie _I, Daniel Blake_, was a game changer for her, achieving several awards including the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival, Best British Film at the 2017 BAFTAs, and it was also the Audience Award winner at the San Sebastián International Film Festival. This performance proved pivotal, earning her a nomination for Best Supporting Actress at the BAFTAs. Hayley Squires was born in Forest Hill, South London, growing up in a family of four until they moved to Kent when she was 14. She completed her training at Rose Bruford College in Sidcup and graduated in 2010 with BA (Hons) Acting with her friend and fellow actor David Carlyle. A Shakespeare fan, she has a midsummer night's dream quote tattooed underneath her left arm that reads: 'And though she be but little, she is fierce.'
