Jacob Vargas

Jacob Vargas is a renowned Mexican American actor, producer, and dancer, born on August 18, 1971, in Michoacán, Mexico but raised in Pacoima, Los Angeles, California. Vargas embarked on his acting career in 1985 and has been active in the film industry for over three decades. He was first recognized for his performance in American Me in 1992. By 1995, Vargas had won the first ALMA Award as Emerging Artist of the Year for his work in Mi Vida Loca and My Family. He then made appearances in films like Get Shorty, Romy and Michele's High School Reunion, and became the voice of Max Steel in 1999.

In 2000, Vargas portrayed Manolo, Benicio del Toro's partner in Steven Soderbergh's drug trafficking film Traffic. His work on this movie, as well as playing the Joker from the Joker Brothers in Next Friday, landed him a Screen Actors Guild Award and another ALMA Award. He demonstrated an expansive range with roles such as Caesar Chavez in 2002's RFK, a Marine sniper in 2005's Jarhead, and the father of character Water Enrique Murciano in 2011. Vargas continued to secure pieces in television series, such as Sons of Anarchy, Mayans M.C., Netflix's Luke Cage, and Amazon Studio's Hand of God. One of his recent regular roles was on Netflix's series Mr. Iglesias from 2019 to 2020.
