James D'Arcy

James D'Arcy (born Simon Richard D'Arcy; 24 August 1975) is an English actor and film director. He is best known for his roles as Howard Stark's butler, Edwin Jarvis, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe television series Agent Carter and the 2019 film Avengers: Endgame, and as murder suspect Lee Ashworth in the second season of the ITV series Broadchurch. D'Arcy's career in the film industry started with small television roles in Silent Witness and Dalziel and Pascoe in 1996. He gained wider recognition with his role in Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World and he has been in various horror films such as Exorcist: The Beginning and An American Haunting.

In addition, D'Arcy has had notable appearances as King Edward VIII in W.E., directed by Madonna, and in Cloud Atlas. He earned greater fame after his role as Edwin Jarvis in the series Agent Carter and later reprised his role in Avengers: Endgame. D'Arcy made his directorial debut with the film 'Made in Italy' in 2020. Personal life wise, he was in a relationship with actress Lucy Punch for about three years after meeting during filming of the TV movie Come Together in 2002.
