What's After the Movie
Javier Botet López, born 30 July 1977, is a reputable Spanish actor known for his unique physique and intriguing roles. At 6 feet 7 inches tall, Botet's distinct looks, brought about by his diagnosis of Marfan syndrome at the age of five, have opened the doors to numerous creature roles in the film industry.
His notable performances include the terrifying portrayal of Tristana Medeiros in the REC franchise (2007-2009), the title character in Mama (2013), Set in The Mummy (2017), and Slender Man in the eponymous 2018 film. He also embodied the iconic character of Dracula in The Last Voyage of the Demeter (2023). His appearances aren't limited to horror, however. Films like Crimson Peak (2015), The Conjuring 2 (2016), It (2017) and its 2019 sequel, Insidious: The Last Key (2018), and Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark (2019) have seen Botet explore diverse, nuanced roles. But more than films, his talent transcends into theater productions and television, one of his famous portrayal being Frankenstein's monster in a stage adaptation in 2010 and a member of an alien species known as the Ba'ul in a 2019 episode of Star Trek: Discovery. He was also part of the legendary Game of Thrones series. Botet was recognized for his exceptional contributions to the fantasy genre and was awarded the Màquina del Temps (Time Machine) award at the 2019 Sitges Film Festival, validating his excellence in the field.
