Joseph Chrest, known as Joe Chrest, is an American academic and highly regarded actor, born on May 26, 1963. His career, spanning from 1993 to present has seen him take on roles in numerous notable films and television shows that have left an indelible mark on the film industry. A few of his remarkable works include '21 Jump Street', '22 Jump Street', and 'Oldboy'. He has also flexed his acting talents in 'Lee Daniels' The Butler', and 'The Perfect Date'. Perhaps his most popular role to date is that of Ted Wheeler in the iconic Netflix series, 'Stranger Things'.

Chrest was born and raised in the quaint town of St. Albans, West Virginia, where he attended St. Albans High School before proceeding to acquire his undergraduate degree from Marshall University. Following his passion for performance arts, he pursued further education in acting and earned his MFA from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, in the late 1980s. Apart from acting, Chrest prides himself in contributing to academia. He serves as an adjunct professor at the School of Theatre at Louisiana State University's College of Music & Dramatic Arts, where he imparts knowledge on film acting. Furthermore, since 1992, he has been a core founding member of LSU's esteemed Swine Palace.
