Luke Kirby

Luke Farrell Kirby, born on June 29, 1978, is a celebrated Canadian actor. He first gained fame for his portrayal of Lenny Bruce in the Amazon Prime Video comedy-drama series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, a role that won him a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series. Kirby was born and raised in Hamilton, Ontario by his American parents, who had moved from New York City to Canada in 1974. He nurtured his love for drama at the National Theatre School of Canada, graduating in 2000 after studying classical works.

Since his teens, Kirby has been actively involved in the field of acting. After graduation, his career kicked off with projects like the CBS/Alliance mini-series Haven and director Léa Pool's feature Lost and Delirious (2001). He bagged a nomination for the Best Actor at the Dora Mavor Moore Awards for his role in the Factory Theatre's production of Geometry in Venice. Further in his career, Kirby went on to play lead roles in several films, including Peter Wellington's feature Luck and Mambo Italiano directed by Émile Gaudreault. He also appeared on TV series such as Slings & Arrows and Tell Me You Love Me. In recent years, he notably played comedian Lenny Bruce in the critically acclaimed series, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. In December 2019, Kirby starred in the off-Broadway play Judgment Day at New York's Park Avenue Armory.
