Frederick Reginald 'Michael' Ironside (born February 12, 1950) is a renowned Canadian actor and filmmaker. Known for his deeply impressive character acting abilities, Ironside has over 270 film and television credits to his name, often portraying villainous and antihero characters, but also sympathetic ones. His breakthrough performance came with the 1981 David Cronenberg film, Scanners, etching a mark in the world of action and science fiction films. Ironside lent his powerfully resonating deep voice to various video games and animated television shows, notably as Sam Fisher in the Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell franchise. He is a multiple-time nominee for Gemini Award, Genie Award, and Canadian Film Award. Ironside was as Darryl Revok in Scanners, Colt Hawker in Visiting Hours, Miler Crane in The A-Team, and Jester in Top Gun among his iconic roles. He had a cameo in Major Payne and was part of Starship Troopers, Terminator Salvation and The Machinist. He also voiced comic book villain Darkseid in the DC Animated Universe and was General Sam Lane in Smallville episodes. He recently featured in The Alienist, The Dropout, and the film Nobody.
