Nick Boraine

Nick Boraine, born Nicholas Boraine on 14 November 1971 in South Africa, is a versatile South African actor and voice artist whose career spans over two decades across film, television, theatre and interactive media. He earned an Honours Degree in Dramatic Art from the University of the Witwatersrand in 1994, an achievement that laid a solid academic foundation for his subsequent professional work. Boraine made his screen debut in the 1996 feature Inside and quickly built a diverse filmography that includes roles in internationally recognised productions such as District 9 (2009) where he portrayed Craig Weldon, The Bang Bang Club (2010) as Colin, and Mandela’s Gun (2016) playing the historic figure Cecil Williams. His television appearances range from South African series like Binnelanders and Crossroads—the latter earning him a SAFTA Award for Best Supporting Actor—to international hits such as Homeland, Black Sails, and the sci‑fi anthology For All Mankind. In addition to on‑screen work, Boraine has contributed his voice to major video game titles, notably voicing Stanton Shaw in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 and Norris in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, showcasing his adaptability to emerging media formats. Beyond acting, he has been actively involved in the arts community, joining Global Arts Corps as Associate Artistic Director in March 2011, where he supports socially engaged theatre projects across Africa. His stage career is distinguished by multiple Vita Awards, including Best Actor for Birdy and Popcorn, Best Musical Actor for The Rocky Horror Show, and Best Supporting Actor for Shopping and Fcking*. Coming from a prominent family, his father Alex Boraine was a noted politician and a former Deputy Chairperson of South Africa’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission, a legacy that has informed Nick’s commitment to socially conscious storytelling.
