Nik Dodani, born on December 19, 1993, is an American actor, writer, and comedian. He gained recognition for his roles as Zahid in the Netflix comedy-drama series Atypical and Pat Patel in the revival of the popular CBS sitcom Murphy Brown. Dodani started his acting career in Phoenix-area community theater, where his first notable role was Zero in a staged production of Holes. He made his television debut in season 2 of HBO’s The Comeback starring Lisa Kudrow. Dodani not only established himself in TV series but also ventured into films and has appeared in Alex Strangelove, Dark Was the Night, Escape Room, Mark, Mary & Some Other People, and Dear Evan Hansen. Apart from acting, he has lent his voice to characters on various animated programs like Big Nate, The Owl House, Hailey's On It!, and Mira, Royal Detective. Dodani stepped into the Broadway scene as Ogie in Waitress in 2021.
Dodani began performing stand-up comedy in 2015 and made his late-night stand-up comedy debut on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in 2018. His writing and producing career include writing the screenplay for the film adaptation of Rakesh Satyal's novel Blue Boy and launching his production banner, Cosmic Pomegranate. Dodani co-produced Life of Pi on Broadway in 2023. Apart from his entertainment careers, Dodani is active in advocacy. He served as a producer for MoveOn during the 2016 presidential election and co-founded The Salon to support South Asian creatives in western creative arts. He's been active in organizing entertainments for various movements including the Joe Biden 2020 presidential campaign and Black Lives Matter.
