Randeep Hooda

Randeep Hooda is an Indian actor born on 20 August 1976 in Rohtak, Haryana. He grew up in a Haryanvi Jat family, the son of a medical surgeon, Ranbir Singh Hooda, and social‑worker Asha Hooda, and spent much of his childhood with his grandmother while his parents travelled abroad. He attended Motilal Nehru School of Sports, excelling in swimming and equestrian events, before moving to Delhi Public School, R. K. Puram, where he discovered a passion for theatre. After completing his schooling he moved to Melbourne in 1995, earning a bachelor’s degree in marketing and a master’s in business and human‑resource management while working as a waiter, taxi driver and restaurant staff. Returning to India in 2000 he entered the airline marketing sector, then shifted to modelling and amateur theatre, which led to his first film role in Mira Nair’s Monsoon Wedding (2001).

Hooda’s breakthrough arrived with Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai (2010), after which he delivered critically acclaimed performances in Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster (2011), Highway (2014), Main Aur Charles (2015) and Sarbjit (2016). He starred in commercial blockbusters such as Kick (2014) and Sultan (2016), and entered Hollywood with Extraction (2020), a Netflix hit viewed by millions. Besides film, he is an active member of Naseeruddin Shah’s Motley Theatre Troupe, regularly competes in professional equestrian sports, and contributes to social causes. In his personal life he married Manipuri actress and model Lin Laishram in November 2023, and is known for his intense preparation, physical transformations, and a reputation as one of India’s most desirable and versatile actors.
