Rene Russo

Rene Marie Russo, born on February 17, 1954, is an acclaimed American actress and model. She started her career as a fashion model in the 1970s, gracing the covers of top-tier magazines like Vogue and Cosmopolitan. Russo made her film debut in the 1989 comedy Major League and quickly gained international acclaim through her roles in numerous thrillers and action films throughout the 1990s, such as Lethal Weapon 3, In the Line of Fire, and The Thomas Crown Affair.

After a brief hiatus post-2005, Russo returned to the screen in the superhero film Thor in 2011, portraying Frigga, the mother of the titular hero. She reprised this role in Thor: The Dark World (2013) and Avengers: Endgame (2019). Russo's portrayal in the 2014 crime thriller Nightcrawler earned her a Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actress and a nomination for the BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role. Russo had a difficult upbringing, involving a family break-up and financial struggles. Yet, she persevered, taking up a variety of part-time jobs before being scouted for modelling. Russo remains active in Hollywood, with recent appearances in The Intern, Just Getting Started, and Velvet Buzzsaw.
