Richard E. Grant, born as Richard Grant Esterhuysen on 5th May 1957, is a renowned Swaziland-born English actor, presenter, and perfumer. He started his career with local theater, notably as a member of the Space Theatre Company in Cape Town. His debut in Hollywood was the iconic film Withnail and I (1987), where he played the perennially inebriated character Withnail.

He received widespread recognition for his role as Jack Hock in Marielle Heller's drama Can You Ever Forgive Me? (2018), which led to him bagging the Independent Spirit Award for Best Supporting Male. He also earned nominations for prestigious awards such as the Academy Award, BAFTA, Golden Globe, and Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Supporting Actor. Over the years, his prowess has been exhibited in films like Warlock (1989), The Age of Innocence (1993), Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (2019), and numerous others.

Additionally, Grant starred in TV series including Frasier (2004) and Game of Thrones (2016). Remarkably, he took the mantle of directing, with his 2005 film Wah-Wah, loosely based on his childhood experiences. Beyond his acting career, he launched his unisex perfume, JACK, and penned notable works such as The Wah-Wah Diaries: The Making of a Film and A Pocketful of Happiness.
