Rita Moreno, born Rosa Dolores Alverío Marcano on December 11, 1931, is an American actress, dancer, and singer who has enjoyed a career spanning eight decades. As one of the last remaining stars from the Golden Age of Hollywood, she has won an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Tony (EGOT), and the Triple Crown of Acting. Moreno initially found fame in supporting roles in the musical films Singin' in the Rain and The King and I, however, her breakthrough role was Anita in West Side Story which led to her becoming the first Latin American woman to win an Academy Award. Her prolific career also stretched into television, with substantial roles in the children's series The Electric Company and HBO series Oz. She won consecutive Primetime Emmy Awards for her roles in The Muppet Show and The Rockford Files. Her later career saw her acclaimed for her roles in Where on Earth Is Carmen Sandiego?, Jane the Virgin, and a Netflix revival of One Day at a Time.
