Selena Marie Gomez, born July 22, 1992, is an American singer, actress, producer, songwriter, and businesswoman known for her success in both the music and film industries. Her career took off when she landed a role on the children's television series Barney & Friends (2002–2004), but she truly rose to fame for her leading role on the Disney Channel sitcom Wizards of Waverly Place (2007–2012). Establishing herself as a pop idol, Gomez signed with Hollywood Records in 2008 and formed the band Selena Gomez & the Scene. The band put forth successful albums such as Kiss & Tell (2009), A Year Without Rain (2010), and When the Sun Goes Down (2011). In her solo music career, Gomez saw her three studio albums debut at the top of the US Billboard 200, with her EDM-infused debut record, Stars Dance (2013), featuring the international hit single 'Come & Get It'. Gomez later released the successful album Revival (2015) supported by hits such as 'Good for You', and 'Same Old Love'. Her other acclaimed works include various film and television projects like Another Cinderella Story (2008), Monte Carlo (2011), Spring Breakers (2012), The Fundamentals of Caring (2016), The Dead Don't Die (2019), and Emilia Pérez (2024). As a producer, she was involved in series like 13 Reasons Why (2017–2020), Living Undocumented (2019) and Selena + Chef (2020–2023). The recipient of numerous awards and honors, Gomez is also an advocate for mental health, gender, racial, and LGBTQ+ equality, and a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador.
