Sharon Lorencia Horgan, born 13 July 1970, is an Irish actress, writer, director, producer, and comedian famed for creating and starring in a number of comedy series including Pulling (2006–2009), Catastrophe (2015–2019), and Bad Sisters (2022–present). She is credited with creating popular comedy series like Divorce (2016–2019), Motherland (2016–2022), and Shining Vale (2022–2023). She has performed in films such as Valiant (2005), Imagine Me & You (2005), Death of a Superhero (2011), and Man Up (2015) to name a few. For her exceptional performances, Horgan has won numerous awards including the 2008 British Comedy Award for Best TV Actress for Pulling and the 2016 BAFTA TV Award for Best Comedy Writer for Catastrophe. She also won five Irish Film and Television Awards for her work on Catastrophe and the Irish Film and Television Award for Best Supporting Actress for Dating Amber. Horgan was born in Hackney, London and lived in Bellewstown, County Meath, Ireland from the age of four. Her introduction to acting was driven by a desire to avoid the turkey farming business that her family was involved in.
