Susan Alexandra Weaver, known professionally as Sigourney Weaver, is a prolific American actress recognized for her groundbreaking portrayal of action heroines in science fiction and horror films. Born on October 8, 1949, in New York City, Weaver made her screen debut in the romantic comedy film Annie Hall in 1977. She stands out for her role as Ellen Ripley in the science fiction horror movie series Alien, where her performance in Aliens earned her a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Actress. Her other roles include Dana Barrett in the Ghostbusters films and the Avatar film series.

Weaver had a vast and varied career, winning numerous accolades including a British Academy Film Award, two Golden Globe Awards, and a Grammy Award.
