Sonoya Mizuno, born on 1 July 1986, is a British actress known for the versatility and intensity she brings to her performances. She is renowned for her roles in popular series like Netflix's 'Maniac', HBO's 'House of the Dragon', FX's miniseries 'Devs' and sensation of 2018 film 'Crazy Rich Asians'. Born in Tokyo, she was raised in Somerset, England. Sonoya is of mixed ethnic heritage with her mother being of half English, half Argentine descent and her father being Japanese. Before transitioning into acting, she pursued an accomplished career in ballet after graduating from the prestigious Royal Ballet School, she then danced with several notable ballet companies across Europe.

In 2012, at the age of 20, she took a leap into modelling with Profile Models in London, which led her to work with top fashion brands such as Chanel, Alexander McQueen, Saint Laurent, and Louis Vuitton. While modelling, she took acting classes and made her film debut in 2014, in Alex Garland's science-fiction thriller 'Ex Machina'. She has had a rewarding collaboration with Garland, having worked with him five times. She also ventured into music videos, featuring notably in the Chemical Brothers' 'Wide Open' and Frank Ocean's 'Nikes'. Her range of roles continued to grow with appearances in films like 'La La Land', Disney's live-action adaptation of 'Beauty and the Beast', and the globally acclaimed 'Crazy Rich Asians'.
