What's After the Movie
Sora Amamiya (雨宮 天, Amamiya Sora; born August 28, 1993 in Tokyo, Japan) is a prominent Japanese voice actress, singer, and songwriter affiliated with the talent agency Music Ray'n. After passing a highly competitive audition in 2011, she debuted in 2012 and quickly rose to prominence, earning the Best Rookie Actress Award at the 9th Seiyu Awards in 2015. Her breakthrough leading role came as Kaori Fujimiya in One Week Friends (2014), and she has since voiced a wide range of iconic characters, including Elizabeth Liones in The Seven Deadly Sins, Aqua in KonoSuba, Akame in Akame ga Kill!, Touka Kirishima in Tokyo Ghoul, Asseylum Vers Allusia in Aldnoah.Zero, Chizuru Mizuhara in Rent‑A‑Girlfriend, and Sumire Yoshizawa in Persona 5 Royal. Her performances are noted for their emotional depth and energetic delivery, contributing to the popularity of the series she participates in. In addition to voice acting, Amamiya is an active musician; she debuted as a solo singer in 2014 with the cover “Kanade,” and her first original single “Skyreach” served as the opening theme for Akame ga Kill! reaching number 13 on the Oricon weekly chart. She formed the music unit TrySail with fellow voice actresses Momo Asakura and Shiina Natsukawa in 2015, releasing the hit single “Youthful Dreamer.” As a solo artist, she has released four studio albums—Various BLUE (2016), The Only BLUE (2018), Paint It, BLUE (2020), and [latest album] (2024)—as well as multiple compilation and cover albums, consistently charting within the top ten. Her musical style blends J‑pop with anime‑song sensibilities, often incorporating oriental and Latin influences, as demonstrated in singles like “Freesia” and “Jōnetsu no Te Amo.” Throughout her career, Amamiya has contributed theme songs to many of the anime she stars in, reinforcing her dual identity as both a voice talent and a singer‑songwriter. Her continued involvement in high‑profile projects and her versatile vocal abilities ensure she remains one of the most influential figures in contemporary Japanese entertainment.
