**Thomas Steven Middleditch**, known for his notable role as Richard Hendricks in the HBO series Silicon Valley, was born on March 10, 1982, in Nelson, British Columbia, Canada. His early interest in acting spurred during his eighth grade and led him to perform in Canadian Heritage Plays for his hometown. With a passion for theatre, he studied at the University of Victoria moving to Toronto to join the George Brown Theatre School. His acting journey bloomed as he took classes at The Second City and iO Theater. He was a key member of The Improvised Shakespeare Company in 2005. His immigration issues led to multiple cash jobs until he received his work visa sponsored by Charna Halpern. He auditioned for Saturday Night Live where he didn't receive a cast but his audition routine landed him a network holding deal in New York City. Middleditch launched his commercial acting in New York City landing a significant role in creating a sketch video for Chicken McNuggets for McDonald's. Over the years, he landed noteworthy roles in movies including Splinterheads, Fun Size, The Campaign, Someone Marry Barry, and The Brass Teapot, among others. His role as Richard Hendricks in HBO's comedy pilot Silicon Valley led to multiple nominations and awards. He later joined the comedy film Search Party and made a guest appearance in The Wolf of Wall Street. Also, he became the voice of the titular character in Disney's animated series Penn Zero: Part-Time Hero. He had significant roles in DreamWorks Animation's Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie, the MonsterVerse film Godzilla: King of the Monsters, and NBA 2K20. Alongside that, since 2015, he's been involving in Twitch streams of himself playing video games and in 2020 starred in Netflix's long-form improv special, Middleditch and Schwartz.
