Toni Servillo

Toni Servillo, born as Marco Antonio Servillo on 25th January 1959 in Afragola, Campania, Italy, is celebrated for his diverse roles and exceptional acting talents. An Italian actor and theatrical director, his career showcases his involvement in various fields including film acting, theatre acting, theatre directing, and opera directing.

Making his acting debut in 1987, Servillo has demonstrated a steady, commendable presence in the entertainment industry. His international breakthrough occurred in 2008 when he played Giulio Andreotti in 'Il Divo' and Franco in 'Gomorrah', with both films being nominated for the renowned Golden Palm awards. Servillo has won the European Film Award for Best Actor twice. His first win in 2008 for 'Gomorrah' and 'Il Divo' and later in 2013 for 'The Great Beauty'. Besides, he has also won the David di Donatello for Best Actor four times between 2002 to 2013. New York Times, in 2020, recognized his talent and contribution to the cinematic world by ranking him #7 on its list of the 25 Greatest Actors of the 21st Century. Toni also extended his expertise to opera productions between 2000 and 2007 directing several productions like 'Il marito disperato', 'Fidelio', and 'Boris Godunov'.
