American actor Vincent Paul Kartheiser was born on May 5, 1979 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He gained significant acclaim for his role as Pete Campbell on the AMC drama series Mad Men from 2007 to 2015. Additionally, he had starring roles in films such as Alaska (1996), Masterminds (1997), and Another Day in Paradise (1998). He also starred in the WB television series Angel as Connor and portrayed Dr. Jonathan Crane in the third season of the HBO series Titans. The youngest of six children, Kartheiser has a diverse ancestry consisting of German, Luxembourgish, Polish, Finnish, and Swedish heritage. He attended Apple Valley High School in Minnesota, but dropped out at age 15. He initially began his acting career on stage at the Children's Theatre Company in Minneapolis. His debut in film was a minor role in the film Untamed Heart (1993) which led to family fare roles and a notable lead role in the film Alaska (1996). Kartheiser garnered substantial accolades for his role as Bobby, a drug-addicted criminal, in Larry Clark's Another Day in Paradise. He subsequently appeared in Strike! and Crime and Punishment in Suburbia. He then co-starred in the supernatural drama series Angel in 2002, and starred in the coming-of-age drama Dandelion, shown at the 2004 Sundance Film Festival. Kartheiser returned to live theatre in 2013, when he portrayed Mr. Darcy in an adaption of Pride and Prejudice at the Guthrie Theatre. Despite facing allegations which were investigated and subsequently monitored on set, Kartheiser continued his career, performing in various roles such as the third season of Titans as Jonathan Crane in 2021.
