**Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari** (born 15 October 1979) is a renowned Indian film director and writer. Her journey in the world of film started after having gathered an impressive advertising career which lasted several years. Tiwari took her first steps in the world of film directing by debuting with the comedy-drama *Nil Battey Sannata* (2016), which was met with positive reviews and consequently paved the path for her to direct its Tamil remake, *Amma Kanakku*. Prior to her transition into film, she held the position of Executive Creative Director at *Leo Burnett* from where she finally decided to take the leap into her filmmaking career. Following her successful debut, she secured the Filmfare Award for Best Director for her splendid work in the romantic comedy-drama *Bareilly Ki Barfi* (2017).**Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari** was born in a Tamil-speaking family and has been brought up in the suburb Mulund, Mumbai. A gold medalist in commercial arts from Sophia Polytechnic, Mumbai, Tiwari spent 15 years in the advertising agency Leo Burnett (India) during which she was honored with several prestigious awards like *Cannes Lions, New York festival, One show, Promax* and the *Goafest Awards*. Her directorial debut was followed by numerous successful projects, the most notable of which is the romantic comedy-drama *Bareilly Ki Barfi* (2017), which garnered tremendous praise and achieved smashing box-office success, grossing over ₹60 crore (US$7.5 million) worldwide. In addition to being an accomplished director and writer, Ashwiny is a talented producer and has embarked on fruitful collaborations with prominent figures in the film industry. She has made strides with her debut fiction novel, *Mapping Love* which was released on 1 August 2021 to glowing reviews.
