Glenn Ficarra, born on May 27, 1969, is an accomplished American screenwriter, director, and producer. He has made significant contributions to the film industry, often collaborating with long-time partner John Requa. Ficarra began his university studies at Pratt Institute, where he met John and both were majoring in film. Upon graduation, they initiated their illustrious journey in the film industry, starting in animation for the popular TV channel, Nickelodeon. Notably, his knack for storytelling and creative direction led him to co-write comedy films, such as Cats & Dogs directed by Lawrence Guterman, Bad Santa directed by Terry Zwigoff, and Bad News Bears directed by Richard Linklater. In 2009, Ficarra co-directed the big-screen debut film I Love You Phillip Morris. This well-received film was based on the life of con man Steven Jay Russell, and was also acknowledged with a nomination for the prestigious Writers Guild of America Award for Best Adapted Screenplay. Furthermore, Ficarra, along with Requa and Charlie Gogolak, founded a production company named Zaftig Films. Ficarra continued to make cinematic history by also directing notable films such as Focus starring Will Smith and Margot Robbie, and Whiskey Tango Foxtrot featuring Tina Fey and Robbie. He holds an impressive track record in the film industry demonstrating a range from writing and directing popular movies to even serving as an executive producer, marking an undeniable thumbprint of success throughout his extensive career.
