Walter Hill

Walter Hill (born January 10, 1942) is an American film director, screenwriter and producer best known for his action films and revival of the Western genre. Notable works of Hill include such films as The Driver, The Warriors, Southern Comfort, 48 Hrs. and its sequel Another 48 Hrs., Streets of Fire, and Red Heat. In addition to that, he has also written the screenplay for the crime drama The Getaway. He has directed several television series, among those are Tales from the Crypt and Deadwood. Furthermore, he has produced films in the Alien franchise and founded Brandywine Productions with David Giler and Gordon Carroll. Hill's work is characterized by his profound love for the western genre and narrative storytelling which permeates even his contemporary stories. His early life was set on a strong foundation of familial role models who were 'smart, physical men who worked with their heads and their hands'. Combatting asthma in his early years, he developed a love for reading and storytelling which greatly influenced his future career.
