Ernst Wilhelm "Wim" Wenders, born August 14, 1945, is a renowned German filmmaker and author. A major figure in New German Cinema, Wenders has been recognized with awards from the Cannes, Venice, and Berlin film festivals. He has also received a BAFTA Award, and has been nominated for three Academy Awards and a Grammy Award. He has a diverse body of work, starting with his debut film, Summer in the City in 1970.
