In 1978, Beijing's Democracy Wall became a hotbed of creative defiance against government censorship. A group of amateur artists, including a young Ai Weiwei, boldly challenged propaganda with their own works, championing individuality and free expression. As protests erupted, authorities cracked down, imprisoning many and silencing the voices of reform. Hidden footage from Chi Xiaoning captures this brief moment of revolution, now unveiled in Beijing Spring.
