Tanay Vidhyadhar Dixit, played by Neelay Mehendale, is a college student living in Kochi with his extended family. His father’s abrupt relocation from Maharashtra to Kerala forced the family to leave their old lives behind without any chance for goodbyes. In this big family setup, Tanay shares a close bond with his sister, Anuja, and his brother, Aseem, while his mother, Sharada, and father, Mr. Dixit, portrayed by Shishir Sharma, provide a nurturing environment. Notably, Tanay’s sister Poornima plays an essential role in their lives, especially with her close relationship with Anuja.

The narrative takes a poignant turn when Tanay’s grandfather passes away, a loss that is soon followed by his grandmother’s death. This unfortunate turn of events leads Tanay to anticipate the freedom of having a room to himself—a sanctuary where he can engage in his passion for reading and writing. His longing for independence is coupled with his enthusiasm for an upcoming Michael Jackson concert in Mumbai.

Tanay’s connection with his literature teacher, Professor Neil Bhoopalam, grows as he frequently visits him, enjoying literature while fostering a subtle attraction between them. Despite pressures from peers to join the political group on campus, Tanay stands his ground, resisting the conformity around him. However, he harbors unexpressed feelings and is aware of his sexuality.

A pivotal moment occurs when Mr. Dixit decides to rent out his deceased father’s room to a paying guest, a mysterious character played by Prateik Babbar, who has a diplomatic past. Intrigued by the guest, Tanay finds himself drawn to him, which soon turns into secret romance. Their bond deepens when they share an intimate moment under the stars by a lake, igniting a passion that leads to clandestine encounters in their home.

The dynamics within the family complicate as Anuja, while initially dismissive towards the new guest, becomes intrigued by his charm, leading her to try to pique his interest. As Tanay delves deeper into his relationship with the PG, he inadvertently starts to distance himself from his teacher, whose affection he also cherishes.

Meanwhile, familial pressures mount as the family discusses Anuja’s impending marriage to Aseem’s friend, causing distress for both siblings, especially since Anuja dreams of playing hockey on a national stage. Tension rises when it’s revealed that Anuja and the PG have been secretly meeting, culminating in her elopement—much to Tanay’s shock and heartbreak.

As the dust settles, both Tanay and Anuja confront their feelings of betrayal by the PG. Despite the pain, they both find paths forward—Anuja achieving her hockey aspirations while Tanay undertakes a creative journey. His ambition culminates in writing a novel titled “Cobalt Blue,” inspired by his love for the PG and the heartbreak that followed. This work earns him recognition and ultimately leads the PG to stumble upon Tanay’s literary creation, bringing a bittersweet smile to his face.

In the midst of these trials, Tanay navigates his emotions and relationships, illustrating a story of love, loss, and the pursuit of dreams against societal norms.
