What is Sierra Belmont's role at her family's ski resort?
Spoiled hotel heiress Sierra Belmont (Lindsay Lohan) unexpectedly finds herself in a new role as the “vice president of atmosphere” at her father’s luxury ski resort in Aspen, despite having no real interest in the family business. Although she’s reluctant to take on the position, she confides in her boyfriend Tad (George Young) about her desire not to hurt her dad’s feelings. Together, they devise a plan to showcase her social media prowess with a few well-planned Instagram shoots.
While her father, Beauregard (Jack Wagner), is away on business, Sierra joins Tad for a mountain photo shoot where he surprises her with a proposal. In her eagerness to enjoy the moment, she instructs her assistant Terry Carver (Chase Ramsey) not to disturb them. Unfortunately, a sudden gust of wind sends her tumbling down the mountain, causing her to hit her head on a tree and lose consciousness. She is soon found by Jake Russell (Chord Overstreet), who had previously encountered Sierra in the resort lobby after his business proposal for affordable lodging was dismissed by her father.
As Sierra suffers from amnesia, the hospital is unable to confirm her identity, leading Jake to invite her to stay at his bed and breakfast, the Northstar Lodge, until she recalls who she is. Accepting the offer after a distasteful experience with hospital food, she adopts the name Sarah, inspired by a stuffed toy belonging to Jake’s daughter Avy (Olivia Perez). As she helps Jake and his family at the lodge, Sierra begins forming bonds, especially with Avy, who has also experienced loss. This connection helps to stir fleeting memories of her own past.
Sierra’s journey back to normalcy unfolds as she engages in everyday activities like cleaning and cooking, despite being clueless initially. Jake shares with her how the lodge was once part of his late wife’s family, and he feels a deep responsibility to keep it open in her honor. As Sierra grows more accustomed to life at the lodge, she discovers Jake’s charitable nature and community spirit, further drawing them closer together.
In a bid to save the struggling lodge, Sierra organizes a fundraising party that invites former guests from over the decades. Meanwhile, Tad, stranded in the woods and accompanied by a recluse named Ralph (Sean Dillingham), is oblivious to Sierra’s challenges. Upon returning home, Beauregard learns of Sierra’s disappearance, prompting him to notify the sheriff.
During the fundraising event, the local community rallies together to support the Northstar Lodge, which gains recognition as a historical site. Just as Jake prepares to express his gratitude to Sierra, Tad and Beauregard arrive to reclaim her. Despite regaining her memory, Sierra embraces a newfound independence, resigning from her father’s position and preferring to carve her own path.
In a heartwarming twist, Avy encourages Jake to pursue his feelings for Sierra. Realizing her heart lies with Jake, Sierra breaks off her engagement with Tad. Shortly thereafter, Jake confesses his love for her, igniting a romantic spark. With newfound purpose, Sierra decides to stay and help run the Northstar Lodge, especially after discovering its full booking for the season stems from her positive media coverage.
Grateful for Jake’s role in reuniting him with Sierra, Beauregard invests in the lodge, ensuring a bright future ahead as they celebrate an unforgettable Christmas together.
