In the nine months preceding World War II, Britain embarked on a remarkable humanitarian effort, welcoming over 10,000 Jewish and refugee children from Germany, Austria, and Czechoslovakia. Known as the Kindertransport, these young migrants were absorbed into foster homes and hostels, awaiting reunion with their families - a fate that ultimately befell the majority of them.
