Plot Summary

As the year 2021 unfolded with relentless ferocity, a seemingly apocalyptic world was beset by unpredictable and merciless climate fluctuations. Summer snowstorms ravaged even the most unlikely locales, like Venice, leaving in their wake a trail of devastation and disarray. Amidst this chaos, John (a university lecturer from Poland) embarked on a journey to Calgary, but his travels took an unexpected detour when he found himself stranded in New York. It was there that he was forced to confront the harsh realities of his personal life, as he prepared to finalize his divorce from Elena, a former figure skating champion and the love of his life.

Elena’s entourage, a veritable army of handlers and assistants, had long been dedicated to catering to her every whim. But little did John know that this seemingly omnipresent group was hiding a dark secret: they had created three identical clones of Elena, designed to supplant her as she struggled to cope with the physical demands of her sport. The official explanation was that these duplicates would alleviate the burdensome pressures on the real Elena, but the underlying fear was that once their training was complete, the original would be discarded like so much unwanted packaging.

As John’s world began to unravel, he found himself entangled in a complex web of deceit and betrayal. With the clones closing in, he was forced to navigate treacherous landscapes, both physical and emotional, as he fought to protect Elena and uncover the truth behind her disappearance. Their desperate bid for freedom took them from the relative safety of trains to the unforgiving vastness of open terrain, all in a doomed attempt to escape the all-consuming chaos that threatened to consume them.

Ultimately, John and Elena’s quest for redemption ended in tragedy, as they succumbed to the merciless fury of the storms raging across the planet. The narrative of their final moments was entrusted to Marciello (John’s brother), one of the last surviving souls on a ravaged Earth. As he soared through the skies, a ghostly observer of the apocalypse, he was doomed to share in the fate that had befallen his loved ones: an existence without reprieve or respite, forever trapped in the maelstrom of catastrophe and despair.
