In the vibrant chaos of Mumbai, Nandan Kumar (a man who has little affection for fate) leads a modest life as a machine repairman, residing in a cramped chawl with his sharp-witted wife, Lata Kumar, and their young son, Ayush Kumar. As they navigate their daily struggles, the family grapples with the stark contrast between their dreams and the harsh realities of their impoverished existence.

Meanwhile, MLA D. N. Patil (Gajraj Rao) is plotting a covert operation, tasking local gangster Omar with the high-stakes transfer of Rs. 100 million along with incriminating documents destined for another politician. In the midst of chaos, while Omar’s crew is ambushed by Bala Rathore’s (Vijay Raaz), a violent shootout leads to a frantic search for a stashed suitcase of cash. During this turmoil, Nandan’s ordinary life takes an unexpected twist when he discovers the hidden cache of money. Opting for discretion, he hides it in his neighbor’s flat, thanks to a spare key he possesses.

As Bala and Patil realize their fortune has vanished, they unleash their henchmen in a frenzied attempt to retrieve it. Patil further manipulates Inspector Madhav Kolte (Ranvir Shorey), coercing him to join the wild goose chase, preying on his vulnerabilities. Kolte and his informant Faizu work diligently to stitch together clues about the preceding shootout, only to find that nearby CCTV cameras are unfortunately disabled – a stroke of either good or ill luck.

In a twist of fate, Nandan indulges his family with a portion of the newfound wealth, all while concealing the true origins from Lata’s inquisitive nature. However, Bala’s men soon trail Faizu, leading them to Kolte’s doorstep. As Nandan juggles his unexpected fortune, he tumbles into a series of humorous escapades, including a failed attempt to purchase a lavish apartment, only to discover that cash transactions are strictly prohibited. Furthermore, he finds himself hiding the money in various locations, including his office drawer.

Just as chance has it, one CCTV camera perks up, allowing Kolte to catch a glimpse of Nandan. This leads Kolte on a chase through the bustling streets of Mumbai, tracking Nandan’s every move, notably focusing on an auto-rickshaw driver who could provide crucial insights. Unbeknownst to Nandan, a visit to the bank regarding a cash-counting machine inadvertently raises Kolte’s suspicions, as the bank’s employees share his odd inquiries with the vigilant inspector.

When Kolte tracks down Nandan’s address, he arrives at a pivotal moment as Lata uncovers the hidden suitcase in their kitchen, revealing the fruits of Nandan’s unwitting heist. Facing Kolte’s armed entrance, the Kumar family finds themselves in a web of fear and compliance. Initially oblivious to the danger he is in, Nandan reluctantly agrees to return the stolen money. But as Kolte rediscovers the hideout of the loot, he becomes aware of another ominous piece of evidence sealed in Nandan’s office - a twist that would determine the fate of all involved.

Simultaneously, Bala and Patil learn of Kolte’s relentless investigation and decide to collaborate to eliminate the inspector while also regaining their lost treasure. In a nail-biting showdown, as Kolte and Nandan converge on the office, Kolte sends his unknowing cohort to retrieve the incriminating packet, only to encounter a violent ambush from Bala’s gang. Though Kolte narrowly escapes, he discovers Patil’s file, triggering a chain reaction of blackmail and treachery.

As Nandan maneuvers through his office, delays arise thanks to his intoxicated supervisor, which gives Kolte a moment to direct Nandan to a secluded warehouse for a crucial meeting. However, upon arrival, the coordinated assault led by Bala and Omar ignites pandemonium. In the chaos, Nandan finds himself as the sole survivor, a twist that seals his fate further.

In a moment driven by desperation, Nandan decides to seize the stolen funds for himself, forsaking Patil’s file without realizing its potential repercussions. This fateful action soon spirals out of control, revealing secrets that ultimately lead to Patil’s downfall in the political arena, where he ultimately meets his end at the hands of Omar’s merciless followers.
