In the quirky and chaotic world of Tromaville, a quiet moment at Tromaville High School turns nightmarish when a janitor’s closet romance is interrupted by a ruptured pipe. Green slime rains down on the couple, and a grotesque slug slips into the scene, triggering brutal consequences: the slug’s effects devastate the boy—castration—while the girl is dissolved by the bizarre exposure. The incident sets the tone for a story that blends high school drama with outrageous body horror and corporate scheming.

Meanwhile, Lee Harvey Herzkauf, head of Tromorganic Foodstuffs Conglomerate, teams up with Tromaville High School’s principal, Westley, and even the President of the United States to poison the student body with radioactive tacos. Their plan is shadowed by a fear of exposure from a rogue blogger, Chrissy Goldberg, who is navigating a rocky relationship with her boyfriend Eugene and growing tension with the new girl, Lauren. Chrissy’s restlessness and insecurity push her to pick fights, especially after Lauren accidentally splashes water during lunch, sparking a confrontation that somehow ends with both of them in detention.

Chrissy’s circle includes her friend Zac, who tries to ask Lauren out, only to misread her rejection. At the same time, a brainy kid named Terrence Horowitz feels the aftereffects of tainted tacos, mutating in a violent and explosive fashion—his death becomes a touchstone for how quickly things spiral when the food conspiracy intersects with the school’s social web. Principal Westley is quick to chalk Terrence’s death up to marijuana, a simplistic explanation that glosses over the larger perils brewing beneath the surface. In detention, Chrissy’s harshness toward Lauren becomes a problem, but Lauren stands up for herself, hinting at a fragile, evolving alliance between them.

The next day, the school holds a somber assembly in Terrence Horowitz’s memory. What follows is a dramatic shift as the Glee Club mutates on stage into a ruthless gang known as The Cretins. They unleash terror on Tromaville: a car is blown up, a teacher and her dog are flung from a cliffside fall, and Lauren is attacked while searching for her pet duck Kevin, who has himself ingested toxic waste and fallen into a dangerous predicament. The Cretins shove Kevin down Lauren’s throat, a moment the film bluntly refers to with the term > “duck rape”. The shock of this act pushes Chrissy and Lauren to a fragile, urgent bond.

After the horrific events, Chrissy extends an invitation for Lauren to attend a party at her friend Slater’s house. Eugene ends their relationship via a text message, complicating Chrissy’s emotional landscape. At Slater’s party, a new closeness blossoms between Chrissy and Lauren, culminating in them sharing a intimate moment. But their budding romance collides with fear: Lauren worries about bullying if their relationship becomes public, and she insists they should stay hidden in the closet. The Cretins crash the party and set Slater’s house ablaze, sealing the night with destruction and fear.

That night, both Chrissy and Lauren mutate in mysterious ways—Lauren’s belly swells, and Chrissy grows a surprising and substantial organ. They attack and kill several Cretins in a climactic confrontation, a moment that reshapes the social order of Tromaville High. Zac, eager to prove himself, seeks acceptance by the Cretins but is told he must exact revenge on Chrissy and Lauren to join them, underscoring the toxic dynamics driving the town.

The following day, the mutations fade from Chrissy and Lauren, and their memories of the night are hazy. Chrissy uncovers a grim discovery: Herzkauf has captured a number of Tromaville High students and is keeping them in cages. The two girls share a kiss again before returning to class, a quiet sign of their commitment amid chaos. Zac secretly films their moment, a reminder that their world remains under constant surveillance.

In a science class altercation, Chrissy confronts a Cretin after being insulted with a homophobic slur, an incident that results in the accidental blinding of her teacher, Mr. Chip, by a laser and lands chrissy in the principal’s office. As the locker room scene unfolds, green slime continues to ooze down Lauren’s leg, hinting that the strange contamination and mutation may not be entirely behind them. The film threads together themes of corruption, adolescence, identity, and resistance, weaving a landscape where personal loyalties are tested and the boundaries between friend and foe, ally and betrayer, blur in the most surreal of ways.
