The 3rd Eye delivers a mixed experience marked by occasional ingenuity and pervasive unevenness. Viewers and critics note that the film’s twists and visual set pieces sustain curiosity, yet repetitive jump scares and derivative plot devices undermine its cohesion. Performances range from serviceable to noteworthy, while pacing lags at key moments. Despite intermittent flashes of genuine tension and atmospheric design, the overall impact remains modest and unlikely to resonate beyond a single viewing.
The Movie Echo Score Breakdown for The 3rd Eye
Art & Craft
In terms of art and craft, the film displays competent visual styling alongside uneven effects execution. Several reviewers commend the atmospheric lighting and decoration of the haunted house, while others criticize the quality of CGI ghosts and overused thunder sequences. Editing choices heighten tension at times but occasionally overextend scenes. Overall, the production design shows moments of flair but lacks consistent polish.
Character & Emotion
When it comes to character and emotion, performances are generally serviceable with occasional strength from the lead. Many observers appreciate the protagonist’s portrayal and the chemistry between siblings, yet some supporting roles feel underwritten and unevenly acted. Emotional beats register in key suspenseful sequences but struggle to establish deeper resonance. Ultimately, character depth remains adequate but does not fully offset narrative shortcomings.
Story & Flow
Regarding story and flow, the narrative offers engaging twists and a clear haunted-house premise but relies heavily on familiar genre tropes. Pacing maintains interest early on but drags through extended set-ups, and several plot turns echo better-known horror films. Originality is limited by borrowed elements, and coherence suffers from rushed explanations. The net effect is a serviceable storyline that entertains sporadically but lacks sustained innovation.
Sensory Experience
On the sensory front, the film achieves moments of genuine creepiness through sound design and practical effects. Eerie ambient noise and sudden audio cues contribute to tension, while visual style occasionally impresses with shadow play and set detail. However, jump-scare reliance and inconsistent CGI quality dilute the immersive impact. Overall, the sensory experience is moderately effective but hindered by uneven technical execution.
Rewatch Factor
Concerning rewatch factor, the movie offers limited lasting appeal beyond an initial viewing. Many find the core concept and atmosphere sufficient for a one-time scare but note that predictable beats and derivative elements reduce incentive for subsequent viewings. While select scenes may entertain on a second pass, the overall familiarity of twists and repetitive scares makes further engagement unlikely. Rewatch value remains modest at best.

The film begins with Alia, portrayed by Jessica Mila, comforting her younger sister, Abel, played by Bianca Hello. She tells Abel that the unsettling ghosts she perceives are simply products of her imagination. However, one fateful night, a nightmarish apparition attacks Abel, leaving lasting scars on her legs.
Fast forward ten years, and Alia is now a dedicated professional, while Abel has grown into a troubled teenager who still encounters the spirits from her childhood. Tragedy strikes when their parents die in a car accident, prompting the sisters to move back to their parents’ old estate—the very place where Abel was once attacked. Alia has been in a relationship with Davin, played by Denny Sumargo, a photographer who decides to accompany them as they navigate this difficult transition.
As they settle into the estate, Abel’s visions of ghosts intensify. She confides in Alia, claiming that the ghostly family inhabiting their home doesn’t want them there. Concerned for her sister’s well-being, Alia takes Abel to see a psychiatrist. Here, Abel reveals that their mother had once sought the help of Bu Windu, a spiritual healer, instead of a psychologist. Skeptical yet desperate, Alia agrees to visit Bu Windu, who sheds light on Abel’s unique condition—she has an open third eye. When Alia mockingly requests Bu Windu to open her own third eye, she unexpectedly begins to experience a series of supernatural visions, compelling her to acknowledge the validity of Abel’s fears.
The estate reveals its dark secrets: it is home to a vengeful family of three ghosts, intent on avenging their untimely deaths. In a gripping turn of events, Alia becomes possessed by these spirits, who manipulate her to kill their murderer—their family gardener. The situation escalates when the ghosts abduct Abel, dragging her to the netherworld. In a desperate bid to rescue her sister, Mrs. Windu informs Alia that she must enter the netherworld with the assistance of a spirit, allowing her to become invisible to the ghostly entities. The shocking revelation hits when it is unveiled that Davin has been a spirit all along, having died in the same car accident that led to the sisters’ current plight.
Devoted to saving Abel, Alia and Davin embark on this perilous journey together, ultimately succeeding in rescuing her before Davin ascends to heaven. Although it appears that the turmoil has subsided, Alia and Abel soon discover that a lingering ghost named Mirah continues to shadow them, suggesting that their battles with the supernatural are far from over.
